Street Fighter is getting a new mobile game this winter
A teaser site has been launched for a new Street Fighter game for Android and iOS. Dubbed Street Fighter Puzzle Spirits, at least in its Japanese version, Capcom is calling the game a “Spirit Fighting Puzzle RPG.” This trailer should give you a pretty solid idea of the gameplay.

As for release date, the Japanese teaser site simply says “this Winter,” which is December to February. There have been no other announcements for other regions as of yet, but with such a recognizable franchise, it seems likely the rest of the world, including the mobile growth engine Southeast Asia, will get their hands on this sometime.

The game includes the usual cast of characters, and given its genre the game seems to be offering RPG-deep story combined with Puzzle Fighter-style gameplay. It is good to see Capcom doing something different with Street Fighter, though we’ll have to see how fans of the fighting game and a generation of mobile-first gamers react.
While there have been numerous film, anime, and comic adaptations of the series over the years, it has been mostly the competition-friendly gameplay that has kept the series relevant, not compelling narrative elements. If Capcom is able to capture the essence of Street Fighter gameplay with a multiplayer mobile title, hats of to them.
